Hotel (Historic Center)
Your adventure begins bright and early with hotel pick-up between 4:30 to 5:00 am in Cusco. From there, we embark on a scenic 3-hour drive to the trailhead.
After picking up everyone from their respective hotels, we proceed to the town of Pitumarca by car for 2 hours. Here, we make a stop at a restaurant for a delicious breakfast, which will take about an hour.
Continuing in the same vehicle for another hour, we arrive at Chilliwani, located at 4700 meters above sea level. At this point, we visit the control point to pay the entrance fee to the community (25 PEN for foreign visitors and 10 PEN for peruvians).
The hike to Rainbow Mountain begins with a 2-hour uphill trek covering 4 km. Along the way, your guide will provide insights into the area's history, geology and cultural significance.
Once at Rainbow Mountain, you'll have ample time to take pictures, listen to explanations from your guide, and admire the breathtaking landscape. The duration of your stay here is approximately 30 minutes to an hour, depending on weather conditions.
Afterward, we prepare for the return hike through the Red Valley, a spectacular red landscape. The descent back to the car stop takes about 2 hours.
Upon reaching the car stop, we drive back to Pitumarca for an hour, where we stop to enjoy a buffet lunch.
Following lunch, we begin the 3-hour journey by car back to Cusco, aiming to arrive around 4:30 pm, concluding our memorable tour of Rainbow Mountain.
